Prayers Please

It’s good to know that the Lord is our strength and he only wants what is best for us. Jesus is worthy of our praise.

This is an excerpt from my upcoming book. Remember me in prayer as I try to do his will.

True Success

Success in our work for the Lord can not be measured by human’s standards. Reactions, numbers, feelings–these aren’t the results to study when trying to determine if you were “successful” in the Lord’s work.

Instead checking that we acted obediently, based upon the Word and being led by the Spirit should be our assurance that we have followed where the Lord has led.

If we allow flesh to solely drive our work for God then we are setting ourselves up for deception. God is the final authority. We answer to him. He will judge and bless righteously.

Scripture taken from:

Philippians 4:11

what are you chasing?

What you are chasing after is what you get.

If there’s a will…

Bulrushes, slime and pitch.

Those aren’t the components that you would likely think are needed to make a life saving device.

But those are the exact things that were available to Moses’ mother so that’s what she used to make the ark that Moses’ floated in.

Sometimes we get bogged down thinking “if only I had this then I would be better off”.

Look around. Because if God has called you to do it then He’s provided you with the necessary resources you need to be successful.

You may have to get creative like Moses’ momma did and you’ll definitely have to trust that Jesus can bless it. But by having the desire to succeed, the willingness to work for it and faith in God you will be successful.

So stop wishful thinking, take what The Lord has given you and get to work.

Recipe for Success

Psalm 37:3

II Chronicles 17:1-12

Jehoshaphat was a king that loved God and kept his commandments. He protected the walls of his cities with armies of men. He removed false gods from within his kingdom. He also had the book of the law of The Lord taught throughout his land.

As a result he was honored by God, respected by man and his kingdom was made to prosper.

Most of us are looking for those same results. Simply follow Jehoshaphat’s example.

Make Jesus your King. Be conscious of what you allow in your life. Remove yourself from temptations. And diligently study the Word.

With your focus on Christ and ban on Satan your life will show the same results Jehoshaphat reaped.

Feelings or Fire?

I Corinthians 3:9-15

Sometimes we become discouraged because in our minds we aren’t living up to standards we’ve set for ourselves.

When these tough times come we need a reference point. We need a guide to determine if we really are coming up short or if our imaginations are just running wild.

God has provided us a tool. It’s called the fire test.

Are the works you doing fireproof? In other words, is what you’re doing glorifying God and being built upon the foundation that has already been laid?

Our works come in many different forms, some we may prefer more than others, which could lead to an array of feelings. But don’t be fooled into thinking that your feelings are indicators of your success. After all, we are still humans living with fleshly emotions.

Fire is the measuring stick. If it’ll pass through the fire, then take comfort that you’re doing God’s will and that Jesus is being lifted up. You are on the right path.

Feelings or fire? How are you judging yourself?

Base your decisions on the word.

Coming Up Clutch

Psalm 18:3
I Kings 18:21-40

Elijah set up a contest: Whose God Will Accept the Offering?:The Prophets of Baal and Baal versus Elijah and The Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel.

Whosever God would consume the sacrifice with fire was the God to be served.

The prophets of Baal made an altar and laid their bullock upon it. They began to pray to Baal. Nothing happened. They leaped on the altar begging for Baal to answer. Nothing. They started cutting themselves, pleading for Baal to acknowledge them. Still yet, no response.

Elijah steps up to the altar for The Lord. And for dramatic effect he douses it, the trench around it and the sacrifice with water. Then he calls upon Our Lord. Immediately God responds. He consumes the sacrifice and licks up the water from the trench.

Our God is clutch.

You can trust Him even in the most intense situations.

Seeing the Chameleon

Matthew 7:7

Exodus 2:1-10

Bulrushes, slime and pitch.

Those aren’t the components that you would likely think are needed to make a life saving device.

Growing Grapes

Galatians 5:22-23

Isaiah 5:1-4

Wild grapes. Even after the owner of the vineyard worked diligently to bring in a good crop. He only reaped wild grapes. Even though he placed his vineyard on good foundation, fenced it, took away the stones from the ground, picked the best variety of grapes and built a winepress to harvest the them. He still yet only grew wild grapes.

God has given you the best foundation to build your life on: Jesus. He has carved out exactly where you are now so that you can grow in Him. He has surrounded you with protection and is willing and ready to defend you. He is eagerly awaiting you to grow. He expects it.

You have been set up to be successful. Are you?

Is the fruit you’re growing a reflection of appreciation to God for His love, blessing and care that He has lavished upon you?

Or are you just growing wild grapes?
