Using the Word to Encourage Others

False Security

Joseph was told to pack up his family and leave their country because Herod was looking to destroy Jesus.

It may have seemed extreme to Joseph. He may have thought “I can protect my own”.

Regardless of what he may or may not have thought he moved his family out of there. He realized that there was no time for taking unnecessary risks.

The Spirit warns us. It teaches us where to go. It directs our steps. If you are feeling led in a different direction, no matter how ridiculous it may seem, follow the Spirit. Don’t risk harm to yourself or family because of a false sense of self-proclaimed security.

Security Blanket

Psalm 33:16-21

The king traveled into battle. He was surrounded by his strongest men. He was riding upon the most elite chariot. He didn’t fear his enemy. He didn’t fear his future. He trusted that he would be fine. He thought that because he had the best protection available he had nothing to fear.

And then he was killed. The enemy surpassed all of the security and destroyed him.

The king had misplaced his hope and trust. He had put stock in the things he could come up with, not The Lord.

God is the deliverer of the soul. He is the one who saves His people. He watches each step.

Be careful of what you put your trust in. Jesus is the only true security available in this world.

Working On A Building

Psalm 127:1

Matthew 7:24-27

The wise man and the foolish man. A song about these men and their buildings have been sung by children for generations.

Really listen to the words. The meaning of the song.

The wise man built his house upon the rock. The rains came down but his house stood firm.

The foolish man built his house upon the sand. The rains came down and his house went splat.

Today how would you categorize yourself? Are you working on “building” with Jesus, The Rock? Have you put forth any effort to grow in grace, in knowledge? Do you deny your flesh when it opposes the Spirit’s warning? Are you shining for Christ?

Have you accepted the security that He offers?

Or would you be likened to the foolish man? Will your priorities of the day be enough to help you when troubles come your way?

If we aren’t building with Jesus then our efforts are in vain.

So build your house on The Lord, Jesus Christ. The blessings will come down as your prayers go up.
