Procrastinator

2015/01/img_7201.jpg

The lady rolled over for the fourth time, swatting at the alarm clock.

She thought, “What does it matter if I hit the snooze button one more time?”

-It matters because procrastination doesn’t just affect the procrastinator.-

In the book of Proverbs we read about a virtuous woman who woke up while it was still night to prepare meals for her household and maidens….she chose to have things ready when they were needed, without delay.

She and those that she was providing for were blessed because of her efforts.

So when The Lord gives you something to do don’t “hit the snooze”. Get up. Get to work. Because you aren’t the only one who is being affected.

Proverbs 3:35

Ecclesiastes 9:13-18

How important is wisdom?

In the book of Ecclesiastes it is recorded that an entire besieged city is freed because of one man’s wisdom.

One poor man.

Your wise choices, no matter what rung of the ladder you are on, have an effect on people.

Seek wisdom. Allow The Lord to work through your decisions.

Procrastination

Proverbs 31:15

The lady rolled over for the fourth time, swatting at the alarm clock.

She thought, “What does it matter if I hit the snooze button one more time?”

It matters because procrastination doesn’t just affect the procrastinator.

In the book of Proverbs we read about a virtuous woman who woke up while it was still night to prepare meat for her household and maidens….she chose to have things ready when they were needed, without delay.

She and those that she was providing for were blessed because of her efforts.

So when The Lord gives you something to do don’t “hit the snooze”. Get up. Get to work. You aren’t the only one who is being affected.

Thrive

Proverbs 29:18

Jeremiah 29:4-14

The Israelites could’ve died out in Babylon. They could’ve seen their captivity as the end of them. They could’ve given up all hope.

Instead they chose to listen to their God and grow.

They built houses, they grew gardens, they expanded their families. They made the best of the situation because The Lord told them that this wasn’t their end. He told them to multiply….to become strong because in seventy years they wouldn’t be captive any longer.

God gave them something to work toward.

Sometimes we feel misplaced. But God knows exactly where we are. He can use your situation for good. Look at it as an opportunity for growth. Ask for a vision to get you through the difficult period. Ask God to give you a goal to reach for.

Make the best of every season of life.

Sharpening Tool

Proverbs 27:17

Acts 3:1-6

Peter and John seemed to be inseparable. They were often found praying together…going to church together…the lame man looked upon both of them before he was healed. They were two of a kind and it was good for their individual walk with Christ.

Do you have someone in your life to challenge you to draw closer to The Lord? To be an encouragement? To hold you accountable?

If so, praise The Lord! If not, pray that The Lord would send you someone.

Having a Godly friend will keep you sharp and on your toes.

Proactive

Proverbs 16:3

Do you struggle with fear? Worry? Pride?

Do you find yourself thinking on things that aren’t of The Lord?

The Bible gives us a solution to these problems: work for Him.

So when you find yourself starting to get overwhelmed with negative thinking try that approach.

Pray for fellow Christians, pray for lost loved ones, read your bible, sing….any work of The Lord…just stop letting your mind run wild and focus in on Jesus and doing His will.

Checkpoints

Proverbs 29:18

What do you look for to happen in your future?

Do your goals line up with the life you’re living now?

Are you running toward that end? Are you fighting to obtain the hope that you have?

Live a life that’ll lead to your vision.

Ants

I Timothy 6:19

The ant is spoken of as being a wise creature. It hoards up its food during the summer so that it can survive during the winter.

We can learn from the ant:

Gathering Food in Summertime

Stockpile your blessings. Write them in a journal. Record them. Do whatever it is that will help you to remember what The Lord has done for you.

Because He has blessed you in so many ways. You know that His loving hand is upon you. You’ve without a doubt experienced His presence.

Winter Will Come

But there will be difficult times. Times that will make us wonder if God even cares about us.

When those times come think on how He has previously blessed you….how He has never let you down…

Get out your journal: read about it. Play back your recording: listen to it.

God still loves you. Sometimes we just need a little reminder.

The ant kept going…staying focused on it’s future. Keep your heavenly home in mind. Eternal life with Jesus is worth preparing for.

Rebellion

Proverbs 18:12

King Ahaziah turned to a false god for answers to his questions. As a result of this decision he was sentenced to death by a prophet of God.

Instead of admitting his wrong and seeking forgiveness from The Lord he became defiant. He sent a captain with fifty men to take the prophet captive. Those fifty-one men were consumed by fire.

Upon hearing this the king decides again to not repent of his evil ways. He instead sends yet another captain with another fifty men to capture the prophet. For a second time fire consumed the king’s men.

Seek God and His wisdom when you have questions in this life. And if the answer isn’t what you had hoped, accept it anyway. Rely on Jesus to help you make the best of it. But please, don’t become defiant and bring others down with you.
