Overcoming Obstacles

Philippians 3:14

People had followed Jesus to a house in Capernaum. They wanted to be witnesses to the miracles He was said to be able to perform. They wanted to hear what He had to say.

Some were there purely out of curiosity. Others were there to try to discredit Jesus and His works. Some came to glorify Him. And others came to be healed.

…just like the man who was bedridden with palsy. He had heard that Jesus, a miracle performer, was near. Four men graciously picked up his bed and made there way to meet Jesus.

But the crowd was huge. The people stood, blocking the entrances, making it impossible for the four men to carry their sick friend through the door.

So they went through the roof.

They lowered their friend into the house. Jesus saw their faith. He healed the man of his sin and of the palsy.

Do you have that same desire to be near Jesus? One in which you wouldn’t allow your flesh, other people or material possessions get in the way of a close relationship with Christ?

Overcoming all the obstacles was worth it to this man.

It will be worth it to you too. Continue to seek Jesus. Don’t be deterred by the obstacles you may face.

Peace

John 16:33

As Jesus lay asleep in the ship a storm surrounded them. The wind blew. The waves rocked the boat. The disciples were scared. They went to Jesus afraid that He was going to let them die.

“Peace, be still.”

The winds stopped. The waves settled. The storm was gone.

With those three words Jesus showed His disciples that He truly was God.

They realized His power.

All because of a storm they went through.

In this life we will endure uncertain times. This doesn’t mean Jesus has abandoned us or that He doesn’t care. It’s in these difficult times that we can see God’s power.

Run to Him.

Accept the peace He offers.

Be amazed by the God you serve.

Sacrificial Offering

Galatians 2:20

The poor widow woman gave “all the living that she had”. The woman’s offering was a sacrifice. There wasn’t any question as to who she put her trust in, who she chose to honor, who she dedicated her life to.

We should be found giving all that we are to Him. When we accepted Jesus as our savior we sacrificed our life to become a new creature in Him. There shouldn’t be any question about who we trust, honor and live our lives for.

Crave

Mark 15:42-47

Jesus had died the death of the cross. His body was at Golgotha’s hill. Joseph, a follower of Christ, was said to have “craved the body of Jesus”.

Joseph boldly approached Pilate, the very man who sent Jesus to be crucified,
to ask if he could take the body of Jesus.

Joseph, out of love, honor and respect for The Lord risked his reputation, his life, to love Christ.

Is your craving for Christ this powerful within you? Are you willing to risk whatever need be to show the world, to show Jesus, that you love Him more than you love yourself?

Jesus had such a craving to be with you. He showed the world his love for you when he gave himself to be crucified in your place.
