Using the Word to Encourage Others

All Is Not Lost

Romans 8:28

Jonah 1:1-16

Have you ever experienced the sickening feeling when you realize that you’ve messed up big…and that you’re not the only one being effected by your decisions?

I’m sure Jonah was sick to his stomach when he woke up on a ship being tossed all over the sea in the midst of a tempestuous storm.

Immediately he knew that he was the cause of the storm. He knew that he and the others aboard the ship were experiencing the consequences of his choice to run from the calling of God.

Every man on that ship was being adversely effected.

But God was able to turn even this situation to good.

Previous to the terrible storm the men on the ship all served different gods. They didn’t serve Our Lord. But when they saw the power that He had over nature they bowed to The One True God.

God used Jonah’s mistake as an opportunity to draw these men to Him.

I’m not suggesting that you choose to disobey God’s will in your life because it will work out fine. But I am wanting to encourage you if you’re experiencing regret over a decision you have made. All is not lost. God can use it for good.

Repent and then start moving forward. Not only will God not hold it against you but He’ll make good to come from it.

Don’t Write It Off

Romans 8:28

John 1:43-49

Maybe you’ve given up hope. Maybe you’ve already decided that the situation or perhaps even a relationship is too far gone for any amount of restoration.

Nathanael had done that very thing. He had already determined within himself and boldly declared to Philip that nothing good could ever come from Nazareth.

Then Philip introduced him to Jesus, a Nazarene, and his opinion was forever changed.

Good had come from somewhere he had never expected.

Don’t give up hope. Keep trusting in Jesus. He’ll work good in your situation.

Security Blanket

Psalm 33:16-21

The king traveled into battle. He was surrounded by his strongest men. He was riding upon the most elite chariot. He didn’t fear his enemy. He didn’t fear his future. He trusted that he would be fine. He thought that because he had the best protection available he had nothing to fear.

And then he was killed. The enemy surpassed all of the security and destroyed him.

The king had misplaced his hope and trust. He had put stock in the things he could come up with, not The Lord.

God is the deliverer of the soul. He is the one who saves His people. He watches each step.

Be careful of what you put your trust in. Jesus is the only true security available in this world.

I Peter 5:7

Jeremiah 17:7-8

There are some trees that are planted by the waters, with their roots spread throughout the river, constantly being fed, being kept alive. The seasons don’t affect the fruit it produces. Neither do the droughts that come along. During all of this the tree is fruitful.

A person that hopes and trusts in The Lord is likened unto this type of tree. This type of person flourishes as they draw life from the Living Water. The different seasons of life, or changes that they may encounter, doesn’t adversely affect their walk with The Lord. Even hardships won’t cause this person to quit seeking The Lord. As life goes on so do they, being nurtured under His care.

Place your hope and trust in Jesus. Be rooted in Him as you walk each day. You’ll be blessed for it.

Psalm 37:3-5

Trust in The Lord. Do good by Him. Delight yourself in Him. Commit your ways to Him.

Then He will grow you and give you the desires of your heart.

Looking For A Blessing

Jeremiah 17:7

Want to be blessed?

Trust in The Lord.

Hope in The Lord.

Eternally Optimistic

Matthew 7:7

Jeremiah 31:15-17

As the mother wept for her wayward child God spoke peace to her soul…telling her not to give up hope, because it wasn’t over yet.

God is still working on you. He is still hearing your prayers. He will give you your heart’s purest desire.

Don’t give up hope.

Hebrews 13:15

Praise Jesus.

He made you.

He saved you.

He has what’s best in store for you.

Praise The Lord.

Hold On

Jeremiah 29:11

He had been hated by his brothers, cast into a pit, sold into slavery, wrongly accused, thrown into jail…..and now?….now we can see how God’s plan came together.

Without the hatred from his brothers they wouldn’t have sold him into slavery.

Had he not been sold into slavery he wouldn’t have been given charge over Potiphar’s things.

Had he not excelled in Potiphar’s house his wife wouldn’t have falsely accused him.

Had Potiphar’s wife not falsely accused him he wouldn’t have been thrown into jail.

Had he not been thrown into jail he wouldn’t have met the Pharaoh’s butler and baker.

Had he not met the butler and baker his gifts of interpreting dreams wouldn’t have been made known to Pharaoh.

Had he not worked for Pharaoh he wouldn’t have been in the position to provide for his family.

Joseph. We know him as a man that had the favor of The Lord. He was full of wisdom, faithful to God, successful in business. He is now a positive role model in any Christian’s life.

The trying times he faced led him to a peaceful way of life full of unimaginable blessings and a resounding legacy.

Are you troubled by what you are having to endure?
Take comfort. God is working it out for your good.
