Using the Word to Encourage Others

Making His Works Known

I am so grateful for the hand of the Lord upon my life. He placed me in a wonderful Christian home, brought up by parents that honor the Lord. He has blessed me thousands of times over with my sister, brother-in-law and nephews. He has encouraged me countless times through my brother and sister-in-law. My grandparents and aunts and uncles played a positive role in where I am now. And I have been blessed with a wonderful mother-in-law and father-in-law.

When we left our family behind and moved away God had our Christian family waiting on us, to love us and welcome us with open arms. He has given us friends to go through life with. I am so thankful for these people.

Not only am I honored to be married to the love of my life, my best friend, but I consider it a privilege to sit under his teachings both at church and at home. I am also so very grateful for the three beautiful children that we are raising to walk in the truth.

But above all of this I am so thankful for the Word, for Jesus, for the redemption plan. Without it I wouldn’t have the joy that I have in my heart today.

I Chronicles 16:8 tells us to give thanks to the Lord, to make known his deeds among the people.

So today I share with you God’s goodness in my life: His guidance, my salvation and the people that I call family. To Him be the glory both now and forever.

Forgetting God

Psalm 34:1

Hosea 13:5-6

The drought came upon the wilderness that Ephraim was camped in. But they harvested a great crop in spite of it. Undoubtedly it was God that chose to bless them in their time of need.

Their reaction?

They got caught up in the blessings. So much so that they forgot God.

Forgetting God. It seems outrageous because God blesses His people in ways that we can’t explain. But sometimes we don’t even acknowledge Him. Maybe it’s because we’ve busied ourselves too much with the blessings He’s poured out upon us. Or maybe it’s because we’ve become so used to receiving them that we come to expect it and forget to give thanks.

Regardless of the reasoning we need to be mindful to appreciate God, thank Him for the goodness He provides and keep Him first in our life.

Living With Gratitude

Colossians 3:17

Psalm 84:10

Have you surrendered yourself to the calling The Lord has put on your life?

Or have you balked at the job that He has lined up for you…thinking that maybe you’re not qualified, maybe you feel overqualified?

Go with what The Lord has laid out for you. Be grateful that He would entrust you with accomplishing His work. Know this: all jobs given by The Lord are a reflection of God’s love and acceptance of you. Even if you’re a doorkeeper, like the psalmist speaks of, you’re still in the family of God, you’ve been separated from the world. You have reason to rejoice.

Dedicate yourself to being your best version of what God has called you to be.
