Using the Word to Encourage Others

Sharing Your Testimony

The man that had been possessed with the devil didn’t know what to do after he had been made clean.

Jesus told him “Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.”

Telling others about Jesus is that simple. Just tell what he has done for you.

Mark 5:18-20

Keep Walking

Jeremiah preached to the people in hopes that they would turn from their wickedness.

Instead of being appreciative for Jeremiah looking out for them they ridiculed his efforts and completely rejected his warning.

Jeremiah talked to the Lord about how their rejection made him feel: dejected and angry.

Here’s the thing the Lord reminded me of: he didn’t hold Jeremiah accountable for their response. He kept using Jeremiah, he kept speaking through him. And Jeremiah kept doing as the Lord said.

People won’t always respond as we hope but we need to keep preaching the gospel, keep sharing the love of God.

Scripture taken from:

Jeremiah 18:18-20

Keep Changing the World

Jesus likened the kingdom of heaven to the size of a mustard seed until it started taking root and surpassed all other herbs…

Just like it began here on earth. One little baby. Twelve men. A few women…and now it’s being added to daily worldwide. And you are a part of it.

Keep sowing the seed. You’re in the midst of a great work….a hugely influential movement.

make a difference

Phillip. Tabitha. Cornelius. All of these devout Christians had the introduction of ministering to the people.
Doesn’t that speak volumes?
Yes, they abstained from sin. I’m sure they gathered with other Christians to draw strength and encouragement. And surely they studied the ways of The Lord.
But their reputation was that they ministered unto others. They helped those in need.
Living a life in which you know Christ as your own is a great blessing. But living a life for Christ in a way that leads others to Him is even greater.

Silas, Timothy and Paul were led of the Spirit to preach Jesus to the Jews in Corinth.

The message wasn’t well received and neither were they.

But that didn’t stop them. They didn’t quit preaching Jesus. Discouragement didn’t keep them from moving forward in their calling to spread the gospel.

They just dusted themselves off and kept on working.

They could do this because they knew what they would be held accountable for: spreading the Gospel, not how people reacted.

You may not be getting the results you have anticipated or hoped for. But as long as you are being led by the Spirit rest assured you are doing good and right and your work will stand the fire.

A Servant’s Heart

Matthew 25:31-46

Impact others.

Feed the hungry.

Clothe the poor.

Visit the sick and imprisoned.

It shows your love for Jesus.

Great will be your reward.
