Using the Word to Encourage Others

A Mighty Minority

Luke 8:16-17

II Chronicles 29: 3-36

King Hezekiah called upon the priests and the Levites to clean up the house of The Lord, a large endeavor. But they came willingly. And they accomplished it…even though they were just two groups of people…even though they had to share responsibility to see that things got done. They worked together to make sure that God was honored and that He was glorified in spite of the few in number.

Maybe, as a Christian, you’re part of the minority in your workplace….and maybe you doubt that there is anyway that you’re light is shining bright into the darkness around you. Maybe you look at your church attendance and think that there isn’t enough people to really make a difference in the community you serve.

Instead of focusing on the people you don’t see around you focus on the ones that you do. People, no matter how few or how many, that are willing to serve The Lord together can accomplish mighty things in Jesus’ name.

Don’t limit God to a number. Work with who He has given you. He’ll bless your efforts.

Proverbs 29:18

Jeremiah 29:4-14

The Israelites could’ve died out in Babylon. They could’ve seen their captivity as the end of them. They could’ve given up all hope.

Instead they chose to listen to their God and grow.

They built houses, they grew gardens, they expanded their families. They made the best of the situation because The Lord told them that this wasn’t their end. He told them to multiply….to become strong because in seventy years they wouldn’t be captive any longer.

God gave them something to work toward.

Sometimes we feel misplaced. But God knows exactly where we are. He can use your situation for good. Look at it as an opportunity for growth. Ask for a vision to get you through the difficult period. Ask God to give you a goal to reach for.

Make the best of every season of life.

Final Destination

Hebrews 12:1

Matthew 2:1-11

After years of studying the sky the wise men noticed that the star in the East had appeared. They must have been overwhelmed with joy. I’m sure they were ready to hit the road running…allowing themselves no detours along the way. And then imagine the joy and excitement that the wise men felt as they finally reached their destination. After roughly two years they came face to face with Jesus. Months of traveling had come to an end. Weeks upon weeks of anticipation became reality. These three men had traveled the road led by the star in the East and now they were being rewarded with the biggest blessing of all…worshipping at Jesus’ feet.

How long have you been walking the straight and narrow pathway that is leading to an eternity spent at the feet of Jesus? Did you start out your journey excited and eager only to find that now you are becoming a little road weary? I encourage you to remember why you chose the road you are on….remember the joy you experienced when you first met Jesus as your savior. Because whether you’ve been traveling for hours or even decades the end goal is the same. Keep following The Light. Worshipping at Jesus’ feet will be worth the journey.

Proverbs 29:18

What do you look for to happen in your future?

Do your goals line up with the life you’re living now?

Are you running toward that end? Are you fighting to obtain the hope that you have?

Live a life that’ll lead to your vision.
