Nehemiah’s enemy, under the disguise of an ally, encouraged Nehemiah to quit constructing the wall, a work that the Lord had ordained Nehemiah to do.

Immediately Nehemiah refused. And he refused to listen the next four times the enemy tried to reason with him to quit.

Nehemiah’s response can speak straight to your soul if you have found yourself on the verge of giving up. Here is what he said: “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?”

In other words: “I’m about the Lord’s business. I have no time to be conversing with the enemy.”

You know what the Lord has called you to. You know what He has placed in your life. Be bold and longsuffering in following after it. Don’t be deterred by the enemy.
