People came to David. He didn’t know if they were for or against him so he asked. They said “peace to you”. David received them as allies. He told them that God is their judge. If they were lying about their allegiance He’d have the final say.
Then they came together and worked because David was willing to take them at their word.
A lot of drama in our lives are caused when we try to figure out why others are acting the way they do.
That’s between them and God.
We need to concern ourselves with following after the Word, not being other people’s judges. They’ll answer to the King and we will too.

@schultz812 Amen, I think 1 John 4 is one of the most important fundamental versus for Christians. It’s a reminder that we can and should know the difference between truth and FALSE DOCTRINE. To “be not deceived”. Based on the confession of Jesus Christ and HIS work we can separate truth from false when it is presented to us. Through his work and spiritual wisdom, we can recognize the spirits and doctrines that may sound good, and popular but work directly against the cause of Christ.
We are able to know a tree by the fruit it bears BUT The Lord knows the thoughts and intents of the heart….. and him alone.
He knew the thoughts and intents of our hearts when he died on the cross. “While we were yet sinners Christ died for us” He knew our hearts, knew exactly what he was getting, how sinful and hard hearted we would be and loved us so much he died for us to solve that problem. To reconcile us to him.
He never condoned our sin, rather he pointed it out and loved us enough to remedy it…. that is hope…. that is the only hope this world has….. JESUS! Not our morals, not our views, the Person and Work of Jesus Christ is the hope of this world to avoid hell and the job of the Church is to spread that message without respect of person or what those people have done.
That is the role of the true church. To do the work of Christ by his empowerment and his Holy Spirit. We are to serve and love the least of these to love them and help them. That does not mean that we join ourselves to their sin or false doctrines or even condone them. In fact we are to recognize them and be sober and vigilant. But we certainly can’t cast people off as hopeless. Jesus never did. The bible says the we are to walk circumspectly and not as fools and that we are to walk with wisdom to them that are without. Redeeming the time because the days are evil.
Let the Church redeem the time, led by the Holy spirit…. to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ by action and word, not to those we deem worthy or less offensive, but to all of those that Jesus came to seek and save.
