During the night Jacob had a vision that showed him he was favored by God and chosen to multiply in name and wealth.
He awoke and treated the land he had slept on completely differently. He realized that it just wasn’t an ordinary land but a house of God; a gateway to heaven. So he worshipped there. Offered sacrifice. He gave it a name: no longer would the place be called Luz, but now it had become Bethel.
When God calls us out he expects change. Our physical appearance won’t change necessarily but the way we view ourselves should. No longer are we just another person. We actually become a temple of the Lord, housing the Spirit of God. We become a gate, opened up to shine heaven’s glory here on earth.
We honor the Lord’s vision for our life by offering ourselves as a sacrifice, worshipping in Spirit and truth and allowing the name of Jesus to define us.
